Buffalo Bills Season analysis till Week 15 – NFL Special Part 1
Buffalo Bills started the season with huge expectations. However, the situation is totally different after Week 15 as the team is officially out of the playoff race.
There is a great deal of frustration among the fans about the way the team has played this season.
The offence failed to spark early in the season. Despite having a superb rushing game, the offensive team continued to face problem in putting up consistent performance on the field.
There are rumours circulating in the media that one of the top guys in the camp will be shown the door after the season.
Although the defence has played relatively better as compared to last season, the rest of the team has downgraded to a great extent.
The biggest cause of concern has been the quarterback play as Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to throw turnovers in every other game.
In this article we will look at how Bills have performed this season.
Week 1: New York Jets
Bills got the rude awakening call in the season opener as their American Football Conference (AFC) East rivals New York thrashed the team 48-28 in Week 1.
Fitzpatrick started the season with a disappointing performance as the quarterback threw as many as three interceptions.
The offence started with a two running back scheme as both running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller played in the game.
However, Jackson got hurt during the game. Meanwhile, Spiller covered 169 rushing yards and also scored a touchdown.
Bills defence was most disappointing as their $100 million defensive end Mario Williams looked lacklustre in his first game with the team.
Week 2: Kansas City Chiefs
Bills recorded their first win of the season as they thumped Kansas City Chiefs 35-17 in Week 2.
The man of the show was Spiller as he continued where he left in the season opener. The running back got 15 rushes for 123 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Also, the defensive line finally showed its worth as they piled up 5 sacks and as well forced three turnovers.
It was a game against an easy opponent as Chiefs have not managed to get a win in the first two weeks of any season since 2005.
Week 3: Cleveland Browns
Bills went head to head against another mediocre opponent as they faced Cleveland Browns in Week 3.
Fitzpatrick finally flexed his muscles as he took the team to a fantastic 24-14 victory. The quarterback scored three touchdowns during the game.
However, Bills lost their in-form running back Spiller during the game after the player got a shoulder injury.
After Week 3, Bills were 2-1 and the hopes were high in the camp for having an astounding season.
Week 4: New England Patriots
Bills high-flying defence was shattered into pieces in Week 4 as New England Patriots ripped them apart with a 52-28 rout.
After the Bills’ offence finished the first half with a 14-7 lead, Patriots went on to score a franchise record 45 points in the second half and clinch the game.
Fitzpatrick was the only Bills player that gave a good performance during the game. He finished the game with 22 of 39 for 350 yards and scored a massive four touchdowns.
