Buffalo Bills can’t help take eyes off imposing figure of DE Mario Williams during OTAs -NFL News
As Buffalo Bills’ star defensive end, Mario Williams, says to be happy over the opportunity of returning to the field, his new teammates have the difficulty of taking their eyes off him given the imposing stature and personality he posses.
Williams, who was let by the Houston Texans become an unrestricted free agent, has joined Bills on the highest-paid, six-year contract worth $100 million. He is the most expensive defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) at the moment.
The player has kept a rather low profile since signing with Bills. Organised team activity (OTA) is his first formal activity with the new team.
Soon after Williams showed up on the field all eyes were focused on him and it looked that the player had a lasting impression on his teammates straightaway.
Quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, particularly could not help himself taking eyes off the player. He referred to William’s stature as someone created by a video game designer, wanting to have certain power and strength in his subject.
Fitzpatrick said:
"He looks like a Madden character you create when you sit there and up-up the strength, and the guy keeps growing. And then he's the fastest guy on the field, too."
He was referring to the 6-foot-6 and 292 pounds imposing figure of the player, a rare sight in the league to watch working out and running at the same speed.
There is no doubt in Fitzpatrick’s observation given that Williams is the premium and high-profile pass rusher in the league at the moment.
Away from the players’ attention, Williams said he was happy to have been able to return to the field.
He said:
"I'm doing pretty good right now. To get a chance to come back out and run around with the guys and finally step foot back on the field, it was great."
It was the first practical activity for the player in last eight months, because he due to some chest problems had missed the final 11 games of the 2011 NFL season.
