Buffalo Bills centre Eric Wood likely to miss rest of the 2012 season with torn MCL – NFL News
The injury problems continue to get worse and worse for Buffalo Bills as centre Eric Wood is out for an indefinite period after getting a knee injury during Week 13 game against Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, December 02, 2012.
Wood’s injury-prone career has hit another hurdle as the player is expected to miss playing time ranging from two weeks up to the rest of the 2012 season.
The centre has been diagnosed to have torn his Medial Cruciate Ligament (MCL). The injury occurred in the final quarter of the game. Talking about the injury on Monday, December 03, Wood said:
“It’s so disappointing that when it happened I was in disbelief that I just played the next play. I was like, ‘Oh whatever I’m not coming out.’ Then I felt a little instability on the next play and thought I better go say something.”
This is not the first time that Wood has got a threatening injury. The player has previously got serious injuries in all the seasons he has played in the league.
Wood got the injury on the same left leg that was seriously hurt in his rookie season. The player also missed considerable amount of time last season after getting a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and spent the second half of that season on injured
reserve.
The player also made it clear that he would not require any surgery on his knee this time. Talking about his record of injuries, Wood said:
“It’s unbelievable. You do all you can to prepare. You keep your feet moving on every play. You think of all the things that could’ve got you in the past and you try and improve it for this year and you have a guy blocked with my legs moving and a guy comes
flying down the line of scrimmage.”
Bills are currently facing a huge injury crisis as the team is without many of their starter which includes star wide receiver Stevie Johnson.
The offensive line has previously struggled to cope up with the absence of Wood and his unavailability this time might have a big influence on the outcome of the season.
