Buffalo Bills confirm David Nelson's injury strained tendon, receiver returns to action soon – NFL News
The Buffalo Bills are in a lucky escape of a serious injury to their receiver David Nelson who has been diagnosed with a strained tendon against earlier fears of him suffering an injury as serious as a torn Achilles tendon in his leg.
David is now confirmed to take about a week’s time to recover from the strain and return to action, which has helped the team avoid a longer absence of the player from training camp.
The player showed up on the sidelines while his teammates took part in training activity on Sunday. He later provided an update about the status of his injury and said that the scans results have showed it to be a strain – to the much relief for him and the team.
Nelson who suffered the injury on past Saturday appeared with a wrap around his leg. He apparently looked uncomfortable and walked with a slight limp.
Yet he is confident about full recovery in next four to five days minimum, and a week maximum, before returning to action. This is against his earlier fears that the injury might be of a serious nature, which could have forced him on the sidelines for a rather lengthy period.
His injury occurred when he was pushed over during the team’s training session before the defensive end Mario Williams rolled over his leg. The player appeared very upset during the initial phase, which he admitted was down to the fears that it might be a torn Achilles tendon.
It was well reflective in the amount of relief surfaced on his face after confirmation that the injury was a mere strain and that he should be able to return to action soon.
Bills’ coach Chan Gailey also confirmed that the receiver should be able to return to the squad in about five days. He said they are lucky to receive the good news about the injury status of the player.
The team had a day break in the training on Monday and is returning to practice next day (Tuesday). If all goes well with regard to the receiver’s recovery process, he should be able to join them this weekend.
