Buffalo Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay returns to practice, hopeful for Week 12 – NFL News
Buffalo Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay returned to the practice field for the first time in two weeks on Monday, November 19, 2012.
Kelsay has missed the last two games due to torn ligament on his neck. However, the defensive end has shown hope that he will hopefully be able to participate in Week 12 game against Indianapolis Colts.
The defensive end went through individual drills and was limited on the field during practice session. According to the Associated Press, Kelsay said:
"We're pretty healthy I think for the most part, and we've got some other guys that are coming off injuries. If we can win these ballgames coming down the stretch, and get healthy to make a push for the playoffs, that's huge."
Kelsay explained how he got to know about the injury that he got during the practice session on November 08.
The defensive end said that he felt like something popping up under his neck while going through regular exercise routine. Kelsay said:
"Structurally, everything's sound. I definitely plan on playing. ... I have a lot of confidence that it's not going to slow me down."
Kelsay expressed his happiness in returning to the field as Bills (4-6) had their first practice session after a 19-14 win over Miami Dolphins.
It is massive news for the Bills who are currently struggling to deal with injuries. The team is already without starting defensive end Mark Anderson who is likely to remain unavailable this week due to a knee injury.
Bills have a tendency of losing big players due to injuries during the final part of a season. However, Bills head coach Chan Gailey said that he is happy that this trend is changing. Talking after the practice session Gailey said:
"When you can start to get healthy toward the end, that's always big. And if we can continue to do that, and we don't lose any more, that bodes well for us."
Kelsay was drafted in the second round (48th overall pick) in the 2003 draft. The defensive end has scored 426 tackles and 30.5 sacks in 10 seasons.
