Buffalo Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay’s neck injury not severe, hopeful to play in Week 10 – NFL News
Buffalo Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay has been listed as questionable in the team’s injury report for Week 10 tie against New England Patriots. However, Kelsey has reiterated that his neck injury is not serious and that he is hopeful to play on Sunday,
November 11, 2012.
Kelsay talked with the media on Friday, November 09, and said that he has been in consultation with doctors who have confirmed that the injury is not threatening.
The defensive end injured his neck during a team drill in the Raiders’ practice session on Thursday, November 08. He left the practice field with the help of one of the trainers and was unable to return.
Kelsay was unavailable for the team’s practice session on Friday. His availability for the game against Patriots is likely to be decided at the game time. Talking about Kelsay’s injury, Bills head coach Chan Gailey said:
“It’s not major, but I don’t know if he can get ready for this week. We’ll have to see how the treatment goes and whether he can get ready for this week or not.”
Kelsay, a 10-year veteran, has played eight games this season and has compiled 14 tackles and two sacks.
In case Kelsay fails to get fully fit for the game on Sunday, Bills will then have to start with defensive end Kyle Moore and Shawne Merriman.
As Merriman has also been listed as questionable for the game, Moore will likely get most of the playing time. Giving his views about Moore, Gailey said:
“(Moore) has gotten better and he’s got some work to do in playing the run, but he’s done a pretty good job on the pass rush when he’s been in there, So he’s going to have to muscle up this week. They’re going to want to run the football. So we’re going
to need all hands on deck on defense with all the snaps we’re probably going to have.”
Bills defence, which is ranked 31st in the league for yards allowed, will face the Patriots offence that has played extremely well to top the league in terms of yards gained.
