Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams played with torn ligament throughout this season – NFL News
Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams had lingering issues on his left wrist till the bye week. Now it has been revealed that Williams had torn ligament on his wrist that made his left hand useless in the early part of the 2012 season.
According to reports circulating in the media, Williams went through a surgery on his wrist during the bye week in order to rehabilitate the torn ligament so that he would be able to play against his former team Houston Texans in Week 9 on Sunday, November
04.
Williams had a good day returning to Houston for the first time in Bills’ jersey. He finished the game with seven tackles and also sacked his former teammate Matt Schaub.
However, he failed to stop Bills from losing the game. Talking about the current condition of his wrist after the game, Williams said:
“After I had the procedure a week and half or so ago, I believe in it healing now instead of being stagnant.  I worked out this week finally which hasn’t been over two months.  I feel really good and it boost my morale.”
Williams has not been very impressive on the field ever since joining Bills on a mouth-watering six-year, $100 million deal.
This season, Williams has played eight games in which he has compiled 23 tackles and 4.5 sacks which is very low considering his performances in previous seasons.
Williams believes that the Bills defensive game is getting better and better as the season is progressing. He said:
“We got to do it every play, every series because we can do it.   To face an elite running back like that and be able to maintain him from what he’s done and what his offense has done to everybody else they beat. It’s about us being in position and not getting
too nosey and doing your job.”
Williams has the record of not revealing the details of his injuries. It dates back to his rookie season when his toe was injured, but he kept silent about the injury in front of media.
After getting a surgery on his toe, Williams returned to the field and gave a breakout performance.
