Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams returns to training facility after having surgery – NFL News
Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams rejoined his teammates in the training facility on Sunday, October 28, 2012.
It was the first time Williams was seen with Bills’ training staff since getting an arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist.
Williams looked very confident and pointed that he will be able to return for Week 9 game on Sunday, November 04 to play against his former team Houston Texans. Talking to the media on Monday, October 29, Williams said:
"Nobody wants me to do better than me. So definitely, with this procedure, it's definitely given me a lot of hope and a different mindset, I feel like I was stagnant. That's why I'm very excited to have been able to go clean it out and being optimistic about
things."
Williams did not participate in practice session on Monday. However, Bills head coach Chan Gailey indicated that Williams will likely participate in the team’s next practice session on Wednesday.
Bills signed Williams for a whopping six-year, $100 million contract this offseason, making him the most expensive defensive player in the history of the National Football league (NFL).
The defensive end has been complaining about having pain in the wrist since the final preseason game. The pain got even worse as the season progressed.
The sprained wrist has greatly affected Williams’ output on the field. He has put up only 3.5 sacks this season and has been criticised by fans for his failure to give better output. Talking about his performance, Williams said:
"The biggest thing for me is that I know there's definitely a lot more plays that I have to get done, I feel great about the possibility of finally being able to get to do things I didn't do from the very beginning of the season. And I look forward to it."
Bills’ (3-4) defence is currently ranked 31st in the league for yards allowed while they are standing dead last in running defence.
Williams was drafted by Texans as the first overall pick in the 2005 draft. In his six seasons with Texans, he had a massive 53 sacks, the highest by a player in Texans’ history. He also has two Pro Bowl selections to his name.
