Buffalo Bills go on road to face mighty New England Patriots in Week 10 – NFL Preview
New England Patriots will host their American Football Conference (AFC) East rivals Buffalo Bills in Week 10 tie on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA.
It will be the second contest between these two teams this season. Patriots won the first game 52-28, thanks to a stunning comeback in the second half.
Bills (3-5) are looking forward to getting a better finish this time after giving away 45 points in the second half in Week 4 game against Patriots.
Patriots (5-3) are now sitting comfortably at the top of the division and hope to improve their good record against Bills.
Patriots offence is finally up and running with quarterback Tom Brady getting a good support from his wide receivers.
Brady has been very comfortable throwing the ball to wide receiver Brandon Lloyd. The quarterback has already scored 16 touchdowns and covered 2,408 yards in eight games. Talking about playing against Bills, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said:
“I think the Arizona game is a great example of Buffalo. They blocked the game winning field goal with three seconds to go, then Byrd intercepts it, runs it down and they kick a game winning field goal.”
Bills offence has been struggling to stop giving away interceptions. Although quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been throwing touchdown passes regularly, he has failed to stop throwing interceptions.
The passing game will get a boost if wide receiver Stevie Johnson becomes available after recovering from his injury.
Bills head coach Chan Gailey believes that offence can get better if they start throwing more long passes during the game. Gailey said:
“You have to set things up to do it that way. What you have to do is throw it deep enough to keep people honest. You just cannot throw six yard routes the whole ball game. There is a lot of different ways to do it. I think it is a matter of getting guys
to do what they do best.”
The running game has been very effective with both running backs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson in good form. However, the team has been criticised for giving fewer snaps to Spiller who is playing better than Jackson.
The defence has been the underachieving unit for Bills with Mario Williams still lacking the fizz that was expected from him.
The $100 million defensive end has started getting into form after having his wrist problem solved through a surgery.
Patriots running defence is in splendid form, giving just 88.6 yards per game, but they will have their work cut out as they face the Bills sharp running game.
The two teams have played 105 games against each other. Patriots are ahead with 63 games while Bills have won 41 games. One game ended in a tie.
