Buffalo Bills hope WR Stevie Johnson returns from groin surgery by July -NFL News
The Buffalo Bills are hopeful of wide receiver, Stevie Johnson’s recovery and return from a groin surgery by this year’s training camp.
Johnson who had the procedure done earlier this month is recovering from the injury, and it is expected to take another month, at least, to heal.
He is already out of organised team activities (OTAs) and other workout of the team due to the injury.
Coach, Chan Gailey, foresees the player fully fit by July this year, the stipulated time for the start of the training camp.
He gave the details of the player’s problem during the team’s voluntary minicamp on Tuesday, for the first time, including the possible recovery and rehab timeline.
The player was seen doing some workout individually on the sidelines while his teammates took part in the team session on the field.
In response to a question around his recovery prospects, Johnson said that he has no pain in the groin area since having the surgery.
Still, he said, there were some hamstring problems that were bothering him and preventing him from taking part in the all the team activities.
Johnson had the surgery in the offseason to get rectified the lingering groin problem but there was not much information on the recovery and rehab process.
It was a welcome update for his fans and other football community members that the player himself and the team officials provided on Tuesday, May 29.
This also satisfies his fans who were under fear of him being out for a longer period of time due to the surgery.
Johnson has been leading Buffalo Bills receivers since the last two seasons and his health and fitness remains crucial to their performance and wins.
Apparently, the management was not happy with his lingering injury problem given there were fears that the player’s recovery might be a lengthy process.
However, the player had remained hopeful and confident of his comeback during the entire phase of uncertainty and self-imposed confusion among Bills.
Finally, they have the good news, which is confirmed by the coach himself that the player will be back by the training camp.
