Buffalo Bills host AFC East rivals New York Jets in Week 17 – NFL Preview
New York Jets will take on their American Football Conference (AFC) East rivals Buffalo Bills in Week 7 game on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Buffalo, New York.
The only interesting thing for both the teams playing in this game will be to get a win in order to end the season on a winning note.
The two teams are already out of the playoff race and look to get a consolation to go into the offseason with their heads high.
Jets will again return to their quarterback Mark Sanchez who was benched for Week 16 game in favour of third-tier quarterback Greg McElroy who put up a disastrous performance.
The offensive line produced their worst performance of the season as McElroy finished the game getting a total of 11 sacks.
Things could not have gone worse for the Gang Green as backup quarterback Tim Tebow is finally fed up with the way the team has used him. According to rumours circulating in the media, Tebow will likely end up in some other team next season.
This means that it could be the last game for Sanchez and Tebow and Jets head coach Rex Ryan together. The team has failed to go into the postseason for the second time in a row under Ryan.
Recently, Tebow had reportedly refused to play the flop wildcat scheme in Week 16. However, the player denied to have done that. Tebow said:
"I never said, `Hey, I don't want to do anything or I won't do anything, that wasn't the talk at all. He (Ryan) knows that, and everybody on this team knows that. I'd never not do something if I was asked, and I think that's what's disappointing about the
whole situation, people saying, `You quit,' or, `You didn't do this.' It was not it at all."
Meanwhile, Bills offence continues to show dismal performance on the field as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick struggles to reach the end zone.
The offence has scored a mere 13 touchdowns in last eight contests. Moreover, Fitzpatrick has thrown seven interceptions while scoring eight touchdowns in that same period. Talking about his performance this season, Fitzpatrick said:
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't wear on me a little bit. We haven't met (the expectations). And I haven't met them. And so it's been disappointing. But that stuff doesn't affect the way that I play on Sunday."
Bills will be without their best offensive weapon as tight end Scott Chandler is out due to an injury. The running game will be the only hope for Bills as far as offence is concern, as running back C.J. Spiller continues to have the best season of his career.
