Buffalo Bills puts veteran cornerback Terrence McGee on injured reserve list – NFL News
Buffalo Bills cornerback Terrence McGee has been put on season-ending injured reserve (IR) list. The team made a number of moves on the roster on Tuesday, November 06, 2012, to make way for fit players.
Apart from McGee, Bills also put right tackle Erik Pears on IR list, while they released rookie kicker John Potter.
In place of McGee, Bills added wide receiver Marcus Easley to strengthen the injury-plagued wide receiving corps.
McGee has been struggling to rehabilitate his injured knee which went through a surgery this offseason. According to different reports, McGee will go through another surgical procedure to completely heal his knee.
McGee was hopeful to get back to field this week after taking a long rest in the bye week. However, he remained absent from the team’s practice session on Sunday. Explaining the status of his injury this week, McGee said:
“To be honest, I can’t even tell you where my mind’s at right now. It’s definitely frustrating. You definitely get mad, upset, all that kind of stuff, but at the same time you always come in here and try and work and hope for the best, really. Pray about
it.”
The 10-year veteran has been in and out of the field in recent times. He has been put on IR three times in last four seasons. McGee previously said:
“It’s something I’ve been dealing with, but at the same time you can kind of say it’s surprising. It’s been down, down, down. Hopefully this week is one of the weeks it’s back up. With Tom Brady passing the ball and the type of weapons they’ve got out there,
we definitely need a healthy secondary.”
Easley will get a sigh of relief after finally getting the opportunity to make his National Football League (NFL) debut.
The wide receiver failed to play in his rookie season due to knee problems after getting drafted by Bills in 2010. Last season, he remained out due to heart condition.
Easley will start in place of wide receiver David Nelson, who is out for the rest of the season after injuring his knee in the season opener against New York Jets.
