Buffalo Bills re-sign Kicker Rian Lindell for four years – NFL News Update
Kicker Rian Lindell has signed a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills. The move was announced by the team on Tuesday though details of the agreement were not disclosed as per the team’s policy.
Lindell has been long associated with the Bills after he joined the Bills team way back in 2003. He has since then spent nine seasons with the team. He holds the second place in the team’s all-time scoring list having scored 878 points.
There are three other records that he holds with the Bills team. In 2006 he completed 92 percent of his field goal tries. He also made the record by scoring the most consecutive extra points which stand at 225, yet another record includes having scored straight
18 field goals.
Lindell though could not prove so effective for the Bills in the 2011 season as after playing just eight games he ended up with a right shoulder injury that made him miss out the remainder of the season. However, he did help the Bills to a 5-3 start after
which he missed the remainder of the eight games having his name on the injured reserve list. He ended up scoring on 13 of his 15 field goal attempts this season. The Bills were unable to reach the playoffs after they ended up 6-10 at the end of the season
tying up with the Miami Dolphins for the bottom slot of the AFC East.
Although the Bills did manage to rebound from their seven straight losses to rout the Denver Broncos 40-14 in between but that could still not save them from being eliminated from the playoffs.
On the field Lindell was replaced by Dave Rayner and Brandon Coutu. Now the kicker is set to return to his team after he recently said that he has almost fully recovered from his injury.
The Bills' second-leading scorer avoided free agency by coming back to his former team with whom he is now staged to start his tenth season. Lindell signed a four-year contract for about $11 million.
Lindell started his National Football League (NFL) career in 2000 with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent three seasons with the Seahawks from 2000 to 2003 and then joined the Bills in 2003. The 35-year-old player has experience of playing for 12 seasons in
the NFL. His vast experience makes him very important for the Bills who would be happy to see him back on their side.
