Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson believes he will able to play in Week 4 game – NFL News
Running back Fred Jackson is confident that he will be available for Buffalo Bills’ Week 4 game against New England Patriots on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
Jackson gave the impression while talking to media on Monday, September 24, that he has 70 to 75% chances of playing on Sunday.
The running back said that he is currently ahead of the timetable given by the team for his return. According to the Associated Press, Jackson said:
"My mindset is to go. I'm playing. That is how I'm approaching it, I think I've got a really good shot. I like my chances."
Jackson injured his knee during the season opener which Bills lost 48-28 to New York Jets. He has been working very hard on the practice field to get himself back to full fitness.
He will return to the team practice for the first time on Wednesday, September 26. Only then the team will be able to ascertain his actual fitness level. Jackson carried on and said:
"My goal is to get out there and do as much as possible. I want to go out there and go full-go and see how my knee holds up and what happens."
Bills head coach Chan Gailey further supported Jackson’s comment about his injury status as he talked with reporters after the morning practice session. He said:
“Well from the workout and the rehab this morning it went extremely well. It looks like he’s going to practice Wednesday and we’ll see how he feels through the course of the week. I’m very optimistic.”
Jackson’s return is good news for the Bills, who are facing a crisis in their rushing game. Before the start of the season, Bills divided their playing time between their two running backs, Jackson and C.J. Spiller.
Now that Spiller is also out with a shoulder injury that he got during Week 3 game against Cleveland Browns, Bills are hoping to get one of their star offensive players back on the field.
Spiller is also expected to return within a week.
