Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson to remain out in Week 11 against Miami Dolphins – NFL News
For the second time this season, Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson is unavailable due to an injury. Bills head coach Gailey has announced that the running back will not play in the team’s Week 11 game against Miami Dolphins on Thursday, November 15,
2012.
While attending the press conference on Monday, November 12, Gailey pointed out that Jackson was diagnosed to have a concussion and the date for his return to the field was not yet determined. Gailey said:
“It looks like Fred will be out this week. The tests this morning were not as good as we had hoped and he had hoped so he won’t play this week.”
Jackson got injured during Week 10 game against New England Patriots. He was striding forward when he was hit on the head by Patriots middle linebacker Brandon Spikes in the final minutes of the game.
The running back was feeling pain throughout his flight back to Miami. It is not the first time this season that Jackson is out due to an injury. He missed Week 2 and 3 games due to a knee injury.
Jackson has not been at his best this season. In seven games, he has carried the ball 75 times for 298 yards with the average of around four rushing yards per carry. He has also scored three touchdowns.
Bills’ running game should not be affected by absence of Jackson as running back C.J. Spiller is showing exceptional form.
Spiller has played outstandingly to make up for Jackson’s absence and will get a chance to take most of the snaps on Thursday. Giving his views about the situation, Gailey said:
“It does make a difference. You have to make certain adjustments in a short week, but the good thing is we haven’t depended on having them both in the game for the majority of the game plan at any one time. So we’ve got enough to go into a game without Fred
and have enough to be able to keep people off balance.”
In nine games this season, Spiller has put up 632 rushing yards on 87 attempts and scored four touchdowns.
