Buffalo Bills season analysis till Week 15 – NFL Special Part 4
We have now reached the fourth and final part of the Buffalo Bills season analysis till the Week 15 of the 2012 season.
In this space, we will look into the performance of Buffalo Bills and their opponents in Week 13, 14 and 15 of the regular season.
Bills were limping with a 4-7 record after Week 12 and the chances for qualifying for the playoffs were getting dimmer and dimmer.
The form of defensive line in previous eleven games led to many analysts criticising the signing of $100 million defensive end Mario Williams in the offseason.
Week 13: Jacksonville Jaguars
Bills put up a sparkling performance against lacklustre Jacksonville Jaguars to get their fifth win of the season with a 34-18 victory.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went to provide Bills with five consecutive scoring drives and changed the course of the game.
The quarterback scored two passing as well as one rushing touchdown. The running game showed their best performance of the season as Jackson got 109 rushing yards while Spiller had 77 rushing yards and a score.
Jaguars were kept under tight control by the Bills expensive defensive line as quarterback Chad Henne finished the game with 19 of 42 for 202 yards and a touchdown. The quarterback also threw an interception.
Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson got injured during the game and was unable to return to the field. The passing game remained unimpressive in absence of Johnson.
Week 14: St. Louis Rams
After leading in the first three quarters of the game, Bills lost their way and got a 12-15 loss against St. Louis Rams in Week 14.
Bills defence got hold of the Rams passing game for most of the time until the final quarter when Rams quarterback Sam Bradford threw a 13-yard pass that was taken by wide receiver Bandon Gibson for a touchdown.
It was the second occasion this season that Bills went on to lose their lead in the final quarter.
Fitzpatrick was 25 of 33 for 247 yards and a touchdown, but all the hard work went in vain as the quarterback threw an interception in the dying minutes of the game to give away the last chance of scoring and winning the game.
Week 15: Seattle Seahawks
Bills were thrown out of the playoff contention with a 50-17 thrashing by Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.
The game in Toronto looked like a home game for Seahawks as they played like a home team and completely dismantled Bills defence.
It was a complete one-way traffic as Seahawks offence managed to put up 31 points in the first five possessions.
Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson got maximum benefit of facing a weak running defence. He ended up scoring three rushing touchdowns as well throwing one touchdown pass.
Fitzpatrick looked dismal again as the quarterback threw two interceptions and failed to have considerable influence in the result of the game. He was finally benched by head coach Chan Gailey later in the game.
