Buffalo Sabres Cody Hodgson suffers Broken Hand in AHL -NHL Update
Buffalo Sabres top level youngster, Cody Hodgson, suffered a broken hand according to latest reports, while playing for the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Hodgson, a 22-year-old centre player for the Sabres will be gone for a couple of weeks, as stated by Americans coach, Ron Rolston, but at the moment, that is a rough estimate as the player will continue to be evaluated, affirming his condition and the severity
of it.
The native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was originally selected by Vancouver Canucks as the 10th overall back in the 2008 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft and was traded by his draft team to the Buffalo Sabres during the 2011-2012 regular
season.
In his first season with the Vancouver Canucks, Hodgson potted two points, one goal and an assist, in the eight games he appeared in while being sent off to the Manitoba Moose in the minor leagues to continue developing as a player.
The following season, his second hockey year in the major league, was really a breakthrough as the young forward put up a total of 43 points with the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks. In 63 games with the Canucks, Hodgson potted 16 goals and 17 assists
for a total of 33 points, followed by 20 games played with Buffalo and getting three goals and five assists for eight points in all.
Currently, Hodgson has one goal and eight assists in nine games with the Rochester Americans, ever since he joined the club during the NHL lockout.
He is also under contract with the Buffalo Sabres to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2.625 million. There is just one season remaining on his deal, which was shift over from the Vancouver Canucks to Buffalo, paying him $1.66 million with $850,000
of that being in potential bonuses.
Hodgson’s salary for playing in the AHL is set at $65,000, which is a huge difference from the basic season salary of $787,500 he is getting in the major league from the Buffalo Sabres.
