Buffalo Sabres beat Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 at HSBC Arena to level series – NHL news
Buffalo Sabres beat Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 in the fourth game of the quarter-final series played at the HSBC Arena to level the series on Wednesday.
The Flyers showed that they were in good form as they won the last game between the two teams to take a 2-1 lead. However, the fourth game proved to be different as the Sabres emerged 1-0 winners of the game and resultantly levelled the series 2-2.
Both teams made a cautious started to the game where they were not eager on scoring goals but waited for the spaces to develop. There were a couple of early shots on goal but none of them found the back of the net. However, the Sabres scored halfway through
the first period to get into the lead. Both teams continued to do the same in the second period but none of the shots changed the score line. The Flyers were most definitely the team that was stronger but they were unable to score and this problem remained
there throughout the game. In the end, the Sabres won the game with a slender 1-0 advantage. Ryan Miller, goalkeeper of the Sabres was named the star of the game for his 32 saves.
The start to the game was cautious but both teams confidently attacked. Both sides did a tremendous job while play-making and attacking but the puck was not able to find a way past either of the goalkeepers.
The Sabres became very strong on the offence in the middle part of the period and scored through Jason Pominville from a quickfire shot to get into the lead. The period saw a few more shots on goal but there were no further goals.
The Sabres led 1-0 as the teams went into the break. The Sabres made 13 shots on goal while the Flyers made 11.
The second period saw both teams making quite a few shots on goals. There were some brilliant shots on goal and the passing was superb. The Flyers made 10 shots on goal while the Sabres made 8 of those.
Unfortunately, neither of the shots found the back of the net and the period ended with the Sabres leading 1-0.
The final period followed the same pattern with both teams coming up with some good technical display. The Sabres made 8 shots on goal while the Flyers made 11. However, despite the numerous shots on goal, it was the Sabres who won the game 1-0 in the end.
