Buffalo Sabres defeat the New York Rangers 1-0 – NHL Recap
The first game of Wednesday was played at the HSBC Arena as the Buffalo Sabres played host to the New York Rangers with the Sabres winning the game 1-0. The game was important for both teams and they needed to win if they wanted to stay in the National Hockey
League play-off cut. The teams below on the standings are piling some good results and coming ever so close with only a few games left for each team.
Though the Rangers were the stronger of the two teams at the start, but the Sabres were able to get back into the game and come up with a few shots on goal. With some strong plays they were able to near the goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Sabres made a decent start to the second period that saw them scoring early in the period to get into the lead. There were several more shots on goal, but neither of them went to the back of the net. The final period saw both teams attempting an even amount
of shots on goal, but they were unable to score and the game ended with the Sabres winning 1-0. Jhonas Enroth, goal-keeper of the Sabres was named the Star of the Game, as he made 23 saves during the game.
The Ranger piled up quite a few shots on goal at the start of the game giving the Sabres no space to work early on. There were a couple of chances for the Rangers to get a goal, but they were not successful in doing so.
The Sabres started to create chances for themselves and come across several scoring chances for themselves. However, they too lacked the extra bit that was needed to score a goal. The period ended with the score level on 0-0 with the Sabres making 15 shots
on goal while the Rangers made eight attempts.
The second period began with the Sabres continuing to dominate. With some strong and aggressive plays, the Sabres scored a goal that put them in the lead. The goal was scored by Tim Connolly from a powerful strike during the power-play in the sixth minute.
The period saw numerous shots on goal by both teams, but they were unable to finish. The goal-keepers also did an excellent job in not allowing any goals, as the period ended with the Sabres leading 1-0.
The final period saw both teams making quite a few shots on goal, but the problem of not letting the other team scoring remained throughout the period.
Both teams made nine shots on goal each, but they were unable to score any goals. The period and the game ended with the Sabres winning 1-0.
