Buffalo Sabres defeat the Ottawa Senators 6-4 – NHL Recap
The Buffalo Sabres beat the Ottawa Senators 6-4 at the HSBC Arena on Sunday. The Sabres, with a win, could move into the National Hockey League play-off cut, as the Senators were looking to score some consolation points during their disappointing season.
The game started off with both teams attacking from the start. However, the Sabres took the lead with an early goal which was later cancelled by the Senators. Both teams scored a goal apiece in the period to level the score 2-2. The Sabres managed to come
up with a decent performance in the second period to score three goals to lead 5-3. The final period saw both teams scoring more goals, but in the end it was the Sabres who won the game 6-4. Tyler Ennis was the Star of the Game, as he scored two goals.
Both teams made a great start to the game which saw them firing shots on goal right from the start of the proceedings. The Sabres did not take too long and scored in the sixth minute through Tyler Ennis from a brilliant back-hand shot to get into the lead.
The Senators were not far behind, as they came up with a couple of shots that resulted in them scoring in the 9th minute through Jason Spezza during power-play to level the score. Both teams continued to attack and it was the Sabres who scored
once again in the 13th minute through Thomas Vanek to get back into the lead.
However, the Senators scored once again in the 19th minute through Colin Greening from a back-hand shot to level the score once again. The period ended with the score level on 2-2 with the Sabres making 13 shots on goal during the period, as the
Senators made 16.
The second period followed on the same road with the Sabres scoring two early goals in the third and fourth goals respectively. The goals were scored by Tyler Ennis and Paul Gaustad from flick shots respectively.
The Senators did not take too long and came up with plays of their own which saw them scoring in the 10th minute through Jason Spezza. The Sabres successfully pulled away with Nathan Gerbe scoring once again in the 15th minute through
a powerful strike.
The period ended with the Sabres leading 5-3. During the course of the period the Senators made 13 shots on goal, as the Sabres managed 11.
The final period saw both teams scoring a goal apiece with the Sabres scoring in the 9th minute through Brad Boyes from a back-hand shot. The Senators scored the final goal of the game, as Erik Karlsson scored from a well placed flick in the final
period.
The period and the game ended with the Sabres winning 6-4. During the final period each team made 9 goal attempts.
