Buffalo Sabres have no plans of quitting, not yet at least -NHL Update
Buffalo surged in the start of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season with a new owner and a number of fresh players acquired during the offseason, but as quickly Sabres gained ground, the faster they well as the year progressed.
Now standing out of the playoff race at number 10 in the Eastern Conference, Buffalo is determined to get back in the scene despite a number of observers terming their season as done and over with.
Terming the start of the season a fluke, Buffalo has come under immense heat now that they are below the playoff divisional line, but Sabres are still determined to make it back up in the rankings.
With a recent overtime win against Carolina Hurricanes in overtime on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, Buffalo has gained the motivation they needed. It was their seventh victory in the past 10 contests, something that definitely shows that the Sabres club is headed
in the right direction.
"It's huge. We're making steps," said Buffalo’s Jason Pominville. "We're playing better hockey. We've dug ourselves in a big hole that isn't easy to get ourselves out of. But we believe."
Veteran Sabres goalie, Ryan Miller, has seen his fair share of playoffs and really knows how to tackle the pressure when it mounts. Playing his part for the team on their way to the playoffs this time around is something he desires to continue on doing.
"It's nice to have a chance at it," said Ryan Miller. "We just have to be excited for this opportunity. There's a lot of hockey left to be played."
Buffalo’s next matchup is against Boston Bruins at the TD Garden, a contest that will set the standard for where Sabres might be heading. If they manage to takedown the leading team of their North Eastern Division, Buffalo will surely set the mark to build
on.
"This is our playoffs," Sabres’ coach, Lindy Ruff, said. "We've put ourselves on a nice run, but it's one game at a time and being ready to pick up the two points and move on to the next game."
