Buffalo Sabres need big season from Ryan Miller next season -NHL Update
It is depressing to see a team like the Buffalo Sabres suffer such a postseason drought as to not making the playoffs for three of the past five years and unable to get past the first round since back in 2007.
Last year, a complete turnover in terms of ownership was expected to get Buffalo Sabres back on board with the scene as Terry Pegula took over and spent his heart out on trying to improve the team, but they still failed to make the playoffs.
With the acquisition of Dallas Stars’ Steve Ott over this year’s offseason, Buffalo Sabres have proved to the world that they are serious of making a comeback and hopefully, having a turnaround season next time around.
"We want to be a harder team to play against," coach Lindy Ruff said. "(Steve) brings a great work ethic to the game, plays with a certain amount of intensity. He walks the line every night. He's an agitating guy, and irritating guy to play against."
Ryan Miller is probably the biggest issue of worry for the Buffalo Sabres as the veteran goalkeeper just cannot find a consistent performance platform that would have him playing the same night after night.
Miler tries new things every night and not because of attempting to find out new ways to take down a team but because his told techniques fail to affect the opposition. It is like teams have adapted to Ryan Miller and can actually predict his moves instead
of him predicting theirs.
The 32-year-old played in 61 games for Buffalo Sabres, proving that he is still their number one, and won 31 games with a .916 save percentage and 2.55 goals-against average.
He has been a part of the Sabres clan ever since being drafted by Buffalo as the 138th overall back in round-five of 1999 NHL Entry Draft and has 460 games under his belt.
Miller needs to be good as he was back in 2009-2010 and better. Unless and until Ryan Miller can get back into elite mode, Buffalo Sabres can kiss their playoff plans goodbye for multiple seasons to come.
