Buffalo Sabres play host to the struggling Ottawa Senators as both are striving to win to make the playoff cut
The Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the Ottawa Senators this Friday in one of the interesting encounters.
A win for both teams is very important as the Sabres are just three points behind the final play-off position.
On the other hand, the Senators are bottom of the Eastern Conference and have won their last two games. They would be hoping to bring some success by winning their third game in a row.
This will be the fifth out of the six scheduled meetings due to take place between the two sides during the course of the season.
The series is led by the Sabres 3-1 and they have won the last two games against the Senators with the most recent 3-2 in overtime on the 25th of January 2011.
Both the teams have had some new additions to their roster with the Senators landing with a very talented goal keeper in Craig Anderson.
Anderson came up with a quite a debut which saw him ending the game making 47 saves and not allowing any goals.
Anderson was brought to the Senators from the Colorado Avalanche on the 18th of February, 2011.
Out of the two games he has played he has won both of the games in regulation time.
On the 22nd of February, 2011, Sabres announced that Terry Pegula was the new owner of the Sabres.
In his very first statement, the owner said, "Starting today, the Buffalo Sabres' reason for existence will be to win a Stanley Cup."
The Senators have been struggling during the course of the current season and stand in the final position in the Eastern Conference.
They won their final game against the Florida Panthers this past Wednesday to register their second consecutive win.
Shockingly this is the only time during the course of the 2010-11 season that the Senators have done this. "It was an experience to remember … I found a way to do the job and the guys did a good job in front of me to allow me to get that first win," Anderson
said.
The Senators have played 60 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 20 games in regulation time, scored at least a point in nine games mounting the total points to 49.
On the other hand, the Sabres have played 59 games during the season out of which they have won 28 games in regulation time, secured a point in six games scoring a total of 62 points.
The New owner was present at the Sabres game this past Wednesday as they squared off against the Atlanta Thrashers. Not only was the game very entertaining but the new owner saw his team winning the game comfortably 4-1 in the end.
The game is going to be very exciting and entertaining as the Senators will look to extend their winning run while the Sabres look to move into the play-off cut with a win.
