Buffalo Sabres renewed, living up to expectations still remains a question
– National Hockey League
The city of Buffalo was entirely rejuvenated after Pennsylvanian billionaire businessman, Terry Pegula, took over their National Hockey League (NHL) club, Buffalo Sabres, but besides the renewed franchise, will they be able to live up to the immensely high
expectations, still remains a question on the minds of fans everywhere.
It is not surprising to hear that over the 2011 NHL offseason, Buffalo was the team to have spent the most money on acquiring players and doing everything possible in order to make the franchise a Stanley Cup contender next season.
With the limitless spending, their $3.5 million in the negative regarding their salary cap space and must manage that deficit. General Manager, Darcy Regier, already has a plan in mind, but also terms it as something they should not be worried about.
"It's all good stuff", Ruff said, referring to the team's active offseason. "We've got to work around a few things, but all of this is exciting stuff".
Like they say in the NHL, money may make a team look good but it cannot make them good, is something everyone linked to Buffalo is worried about. Having set such high expectations with unlimited optimism, seeing if they are able to live up next season will
certainly be thrilling in itself.
Christian Ehrhoff, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman who signed on with Buffalo during the free agency, certainly thinks that all being done by the team management will pay off during the season.
"Just the whole outlook has changed", said Ehrhoff, who signed a 10-year, $40 million contract. "My goal was to be on a team that's really committed. And ownership has shown that right from the start. This is probably just the beginning".
Changing the roster might be one think, but Buffalo has gone to the extent of even having extensive renovating done on their home stadium, which Pegula regards as something which motivates the team.
Doing every little thing which can benefit their team is something that the Sabres franchise has shown throughout their offseason spending spree. Avoiding embarrassment by making it big next season is something they will surely have to do.
