Buffalo Sabres right winger Corey Tropp suffers an injury while playing American Hockey League
Corey Tropp, an American professional ice hockey player, who plays for Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL), suffered an injury while he was playing in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Tropp played last season for Sabres in the NHL and was supposed to represent them at the same level once again this year but he was sent to the minor league and the affiliates of Sabres, Rochester American because of the NHL lockout.
According to the reports, he has suffered an injury in the ligament of the right knee while he was checked by a player in a game against Syracuse Crunch.
On Friday, the 23-year-old right winger scored the first two goals and was right on the way of guiding his team to a win when he suffered a blow from Crunch’s defenseman Radko Gudas and went into the boards.
After the hit, Tropp could not properly but he tried to come back into the play but after few seconds he had to go back on the bench and sit out there to watch the last seven minutes of the match. Americans eventually won the match in the shootout.
Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan native was very disappointed at being injured on missing out few matches as he tweeted on his official Twitter account,
"Tough break but that's life”.
While talking to Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, he also added that he tried to play and hoped that he was fit and could carry on but he knew something was wrong so he stopped playing. He said,
"You hope for the best but you also know your body. I knew something didn't feel right”.
The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder player was picked in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Sabres, in the third round as he was selected 89th overall. Before that, he had started his career for Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League (USHL) and
then went on to play for the college team of Michigan State University.
Before making his NHL debut last season, Tropp played for Americans in the AHL and Portland Pirates as well. In NHL he has got three goals and five assists for total of 8 points in 34 games.
