Buffalo Sabres win 4-3 against Philadelphia Flyers to lead series 3-2 after over-time – NHL Update
The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in over-time to take a 3-2 lead in the National Hockey League play-off series at the Wells Fargo Arena on Friday.
The Sabres did not care if it was home ice or not, all they knew was that they had to score. With some strong attacking, they managed two early goals that put them in a comfortable position. There were shots on goal after this and once again it was the Sabres
who scored. The second 20 minutes of play witnessed the Sabres coming out strong once again but it was the Flyers who scored twice in the middle part of the period to cut the lead to a single goal. Philadelphia scored early in the final period to level the
scores with both teams finishing on a high note as they fired shots on goal. The game went into over-time as the scores were level and it was the Sabres who scored to win the game 3-2 in the end. Tyler Ennis of the Sabres was named the Star of the Game as
he scored two goals including the game winning goal.
The Sabres were on top of the opposition at the start of the proceedings and scored in the third minute to get into the lead with Tyler Ennis scoring. The Sabres continued to attack and scored once again in the very next minute to double their lead with
Thomas Vanek scoring the goal.
The Sabres continued to dominate the game that saw them scoring once again in the 16th minute as they came across a power-play. The goal was scored by Marc-Andre Gragnani from a well placed flick-shot. The period ended with the Sabres leading
3-0 as they made 13 shots on goal while the Flyers made nine.
The Sabres fired a couple of shots on goal but after this, it was all about the Flyers who took complete control of the game. They were on top in offence and defence and their play-making was improving as the game progressed.
As a result, the Flyers scored through James van Riemsdyk from a powerful strike. The Flyers scored once again in the very next minute through Andrej Meszaros from an amazing strike. The period paid witnessed to several more shots by the Flyers but no further
goals were scored.
The period ended with the Sabres still leading 3-2 as they made five shots on goal while the Flyers made 15.
The Flyers made a great start to the final period and scored through Danny Briere from a back-hand shot to level the scores in the fourth minute. Both teams came up with several shots on goal but none of them found the back of the net.
The period ended with the scores level on 3-3 and the game going into over-time. The Sabres emerged as winners with Ennis scoring once again in the sixth minute to win the game 4-3.
