Buffalo Sabres wins 3-2 against the Minnesota Wild in overtime in a tight and intense match between the two sides

Minnesota Wild played host to the Buffalo Sabres at the Xcel Energy Center this past Sunday.
Both the teams are on the brink of the play-off cut with the Sabres in the final play-off position while the Wild are just one point behind the eighth position.
The Sabres made a decent start to the game as they scored early in the period to get into the lead.
The second period saw quite a few goals during the 20 minutes of play. The Sabres scored to double their lead.
However, the Wild also scored twice during the second period to level the scores.
The final period didn’t see any goals as the regulation time ended with the scores level on 2-2.
Sabres scored in the very first minute to win the game by 3-2 in overtime.
Drew Stafford was named the star of the game as he scored the winner in the overtime.
The Sabres despite the away disadvantage made a decent start to the game which saw them creating chances right from the start.
They managed to score in the second minute of the period to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Jason Pominville from a brilliant tip in shot to get into the lead.
After the goal, things slowed down as the teams didn’t go on the attacks. One reason for this was the tight defence that both teams maintained.
They didn’t give the offence any space near the goal which resulted only a few goal attempts made by each team.
Though the Wild had quite a few chances to score and level the score line, they weren’t successful in doing so.
The period ended with Sabres leading 1-0 while both teams made 6 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The Sabres were quick out of the blocks once again as they scored in the third minute through Rob Niedermayer to double their lead.
However, with the passage of time the Wild gained a lot of confidence from the small plays they constructed which saw them nearing the goal each time.
The Wild managed to score in the 15th minute through Warren Peters from a brilliant tip in shot to cut the lead to single goal.
The home team set the fans wild as they scored once again in the 18th minute through Marek Zidlicky from a quick fired shot during power play to level the scores.
The period ended with the scores level on 2-2 as the Wild made a remarkable comeback.
During the period, the Wild made 14 goal attempts while the Sabres made 11 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams making quite a few shots on goal but there weren’t any goals.
During the period, the Wild made six goal attempts while the Sabres made 15 shots on goal.
The scores were level on 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
The game went into overtime where Drew Stafford bagged a goal in the very first minute to win the game 3-2 for the Sabres.
