  1. Beers before dinner is excellent as it makes me really hungry.

However i still believe we should eat to live and not live to eat.

  2. john's suggestion is good. warm water makes expands our stomach size and clod water contracts it. so if you want to eat more, better drink warm water. it also help in blood circulation

  3. leave a tip after filling up.

  4. From my experience, eat a little of everything and start your meal with the lightest food.

For ex. if u go for a j*p Buffet, eat sashimi first. Leave all the noodles and sushi last. If you do crave for teppanyaki, choose a little of everything. Make your portions small. If you really want to eat everything, stay put at the restaurant for at least 3 hours. sit and chat with your friends. After digest, can still eat again...hehe

Hope it helps...Just one of my experiences

  5. starts by eating vege and fruits. fruits and vege digest fast in our body. after eating vege and fruits take a rest about 10 min or so, then go for others. take most of the food in a small portion and eat them.

if possible dont take rice (rice is cheap and filling). stay there to eat in 3 to 4 and eat slowly and you have a chance to eat a lot.

  6. Hihihi..what a good question!

What is the tip and how can we be able to wallop every single thing displayed at the Buffet counter..

what normally my family and i would do is..to come early at the restaurant...some establishment will serve their buffet dinner from 6.30pm until 10.30pm...so we would normally come at 6.30pm or 7pm and start the meal with appetizers and salads...then we would rest for a while..say chit chat or whatever..then after 10-15mins..we will continue for for the main dishes..take and eat little portion of every dishes available and then rest again for another 10-15mins..at this moment..the time should be around 8.30pm..and after resting...then go for the second or third helping of the main dishes then rest again...after that, proceed for their heavenly desserts..alongside have a cup of tea or coffee..

so there...you could wallop every single dishes..never feel guilty of occupying your table for 4 hours and dont bother of all the glaring by the wait staffs..you are a paying customer..so customer is always right...

and also remember, dont drink other than plain water or chinese tea..this is to make sure that you wont feel full even before you could finish the food..!!!

    good luck!

  7. i will take in small amount and then just keep going back to the food counter.(dont be embarassed u paid for it - had some friends who firmly will not go for another helping after the 2nd round) . dont worry the food will never finish .. also i dont drink lots of water.. take yr time and just sit at the table until the buffet time is over .. dont be gila like some people take piles of food and never finish their them .. wasted !!

for me if i;m  eatting at pizza hut buffet(now no more :( )

dont eat the crust at the back coz it will make u full fast.

  8. nice question..

i normally skip lunch in preparation of the buffet dinner..

    drink less water

    dont eat rice too much

i mostly targets the rare food & for me consider expensive ones such as "lamb cutlets dishes" ..

but myra's tip is excellent, i think i'll do that for my next buffet trip..

  9. Well, what I would do is not eat for a couple of days then just before the buffet have a few beers (which always makes me even more hungry) then i should be able to wallop the lot!

But unfortunately I dont practice what I preach as there is a top class Chinese restaurant close by to me and they do a lunch/evening all you can eat buffet with such delights as sweet 'n' sour spare ribs, roasted duck, peppered crab, king prawns with green peppers and ginger etc etc etc (30 plus items in the buffet) all for £6 per person.

But I can never finish more than a plate and a half of the wonderful food as my tummy is full up by then, so I should really take my own advice.

I used to have a lunchtime buffet at my restaurant in Kuching and it was fun seeing some of the guys filling up their plates so high with food that by the time they got back to their table half the food had fallen off or they simply couldn't eat so much and left more than half of it.

I tried teaching them to take a small plate of food and if they are still hungry they could go back for seconds and thirds until full up, but maybe because it was quite a new concept at the time they just wouldn't do it (maybe they was scared that the food would run out) but they was plenty more in the kitchen that the staff would bring out if something was getting low!

(sorry for such a long answer!)

    Edit:

Mr Coolie, have you any kind of certificates/diplomas in your maintenance job? (there is a good reason for asking)

    Nice answer Myra :-)

  10. Myra's suggestion was great but i suggest, before getting any food from the buffet:

    1. try to check the food, if it's oily or margarine's smell is very strong, try to move away from those, even a single serving or about 2 spoons of those will make you full.

    2. check for the specialty of the resto and try those first.

    3. lessen your rice / carbo intake.

    4. drink warm water or tea and no to soda, this will expand your stomach size.

    5. wear loose clothing particularly pants.

    6. chat more while eating.

  11. whoa! great question  Bo$$..i was also wondering the same thing. you know when you go for buffet the food is so tempting, if can you want to gobble the whole thing....many great tips here i see today...but usually i start of first with fruits, then followed by the rest...but like andersen said, forget the rice and enjoy the rest....cheers ! happy eating !
