Buffing formica?

have 12 table tops,there dull and would like to make them like new,have a car body buffer polisher,what kind of buffing compound should i use?

  1. Use a food safe wax if these are dining tables.  You can find it at Lowe's in the paint department.  Good luck!


  2. Some theory/ some practice.......

    Might try a bare polishing bonnet on the buffer & see if that brings up the shine.

    Or maybe an auto cleaner/  wax  that is not too gritty or  something  recommended by mfr.

    The pattern /color on laminated plastics like formica does not go all the way through & it is possible to wear through to expose the base material

    If you do try auto buffing compound would use "white" rather than "pink" which is more abrasive.

    Have used plain cotton buffs as a first step on all sorts of things.

  3. I used regular Floor Wax and a buffer. It helped a lot.

  4. That is the downside to formica, you can't do anything to it, it is just too smooth for anything to adhere.
