Bug: Is It a Tick?

There is this type of bug that I see commonly at work. I usually see them dead all over the place. it sort of looks like a tick, but with a round body. the body appears brownish-red transparent when I held one in the light. At first, it appeared to be a spider to me. Anyone have a clue to which type of insect/bug it could be?

might be a tick but what is it doing in your office. do you have a dog or an animal of some sort?
