Bug problem in my house.

I've been having a problem bugs in my house. It's a pretty old house built in the late 40s so, it seems there's alot of cracks in the walls and window sills and for example, the front door doesn't line up with the jam correctly so there's a space at the bottom of the door..

Anyway, we've been getting bugs in every room of the house. I think it climaxed when I layed down on my bed and the next think I knew, a massive spider came crawling from the side, on my sheets toward me.

We had a really serious ant problem but, it seems like we're winning that battle but, we've seen other bug like silverfish crusing around.. How do we prevent bugs from taking refuge in our home??

  1. You might want to have an exterminator come and spray all the way around your house.  Or if you can, go to a farm supply store.  They have chemicals for spraying around the barns.  We did that because we had a fly problem.  It was terrible!  After spraying, we were good for the whole rest of that summer.  (We live where there's a cold and snowy winter.  If you're down South, I would say to go with an exterminator.  They have guarantees and they know just what to do.)

  2. Get the foam sealer and fill every crack, caulk windows, and call the Orkin man!

  3. i think its time to call the bug people in.they will spray the place out.or think about moving

  4. If I had your problem I would seal all cracks you can find,  And I would try this, just make sure that you buy the recommended amount and follow the instructions to the T.

  5. Okay, so I live in a daylight basement and I have the same issue, in fact my dang front door doesn't line up either. What I had to do, in my 600sq ft apartment, is buy a couple fog things and let one off in my bedroom with all doors open (inside) and the other in my living room on a Friday. I go away for the weekend, and come home Sunday to air it out and vaccume, especially because I have a cat. I have had to do this every six months, and to be honest it's better doing that then spending serious money on someone else to come spray around the house and doors. My parents have that done, and they still get an occasional spider.

Real quick as well, my door had a space underneath and what my boyfriend and I did was we went to Home Depot and got a metal/rubber door sweeper thing. Sorry I don't know what they are called, but it's about an inch and a half thick and as long as the door and we nailed it to the bottom of the door. If you already have one...well, my suggestion would be to rip it off and buy a new one and make sure it's put on there properly. We never had one, and not only has it keep the draft out, but it keeps the BUGS OUT!

    Hope this helps!

  6. The h**l with the bug people. Have you seen the real estate market lately. Go get a new home.
