Bugs with Windows XP Service Pack 3?

My computer's trying to get me to install it, but I read online that there are a lot of bugs in it.. so I'm gonna hold the installation for another time..

Are there really bugs in SP3? Should I install it anyway? What are the risks/benefits of SP3?

  1. There were some issues with a specific motherboard (one specific ASUS mobo I think?) and only AMD based.  Other Intel-based users have complained of BSOD's, but I think they are extremely rare.

I upgraded on both my laptop (Dell Vostro 1500, Intel T7250), and home PC running an ASUS mobo with AMD CPU.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

SP3 is a rollup of all those security updates you have been installing over the years on top of SP2.  I heard there were other subtle changes, but I haven't seen anything obvious.

  2. My computer is running fine with service pack 2---please see the review at www.theeldergeek.com about SP 3.

  3. Well i've had SP3 since last year,.possibly early this year, and i don't have know Bugs at all.

SP3 is just updating you're system for the better and there allot more new features you will notice.

SP2 is now kinda out of date,..but if you want to keep it,..then that's up to you.

As you know,..there are allot of new threats out there,..especially on the Web. SP3 has certain components to protect you.

I would definitely install it as it's updating you're whole Systems for the better.

It takes a while to download and install,..but not to long from what i remember.

Make sure you are getting the Updates from the Official http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupd... Windows Update site and know where els!

Also,..you should have a good Security Pack installed on you're PC to protect you from any Web threats.

SP3 isn't gonna harm you're PC,it's gonna keep you up to date.

Take the plunge,..it will be worth it in the end! ;)
