1. Do they play both courses on different days or is there one group playing on one and another group on the other in the same round?

2. How do they select who plays on what course on which day?

3. On the last event(bob hope classic) were all four of the courses played on or only at la quinta?

4. Is there any specific sight where this info can be found because yahoo sports makes no mention of it?

Thanks!!!

  1. If your asking so you know who to start on your fantasy golf team, go with your golfers who play the North Course early in the morning.  With no wind to deal with, the players will tear up the North Course.  Tiger even said it himself, if you shoot in the 70s on the North Course, you will get lapped.

  2. 1. I believe they play both courses on Thurs. & Fri. and stick to just the North course for the weekend.

    2. Random draw.

    3. all 4 were played Wed-Sat

    4. try pgatour.com

  3. I've been to the Buick Invitational many many times in the past. To answer your questions...

    1) During the first round on Thursday where the entire field of golfers are playing, one half plays the North course while the other half plays the South course. The following day, Friday, each half of the field then swaps courses.

Incidentally, the final two rounds (after the cut) are played on the South course. Over the past three years Torrey Pines has made a number of changes to the South course which make it a much sterner test of golf than the North. The 13th hole, for example, is a 469 yard par 4 that plays dead into the wind coming from the ocean. In fact, the wind is so strong in that section of the course a Hang Glider port operates directly adjacent to the 13th hole!

One final note, the changes I mentioned were significant enough to bring the 2008 US Open to Torrey Pines South. This is unique because Major Championships are very rarely played on municipal courses (Torrey Pines GC is owned by the city of San Diego).

    2) The selection of who plays which course on the first two rounds is random. They used to draw up the field by the order in which the players signed up to play, but they stopped doing that a few years ago. Now it is a totally random "pull a name out of a hat" type of thing.

    3) All four courses (Silver Rock, La Quinta, Classic Club, and PGA West) were played at the Bob Hope Classic. If you look closely at the scores you will see small initials beside each player signifying the specific course they are playing (i.e., SR for Silver Rock, LQ for La Quinta, etc...). A much more in-depth definition of the tournatment can be found at...

    4) Each PGA tournament has it's own site. The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic can be found at:

    http://www.bhcc.com

    The Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines can be found at;

    www.buickinvitational.com

Wikipedia is also a good source for information.

    Hope this helps,
