I will be going to college shortly and keep hearing about how important it is to build good credit history. I dont have a credit card nor do I no what to look for. I was on discover/mastercard/visa's websites and they all have several student cards to choose from. What company should I get a card with and what should I look for in my first card? Thx.

(I wont be making any major purchases, this card would just be used to make small purchases and then paid off completly as soon as I get the bill to establish good credit)

  1. You definitely have the right idea on how to use it. Since you would be a student, those types of cards are easier to get more often than regular credit cards. As long as you spend no more than $20-30 a month and pay it on time, then you should be ok.

Good luck, and thanks for reading!

  2. I always advice people to look at the following site before applying for any card because they find the best cards for you and it saves you the hassel of doing indept research. I would go with either Visa or Mastercard because they are accepted widely.

  3. Since you would be going to college, you can apply for a student credit card. Capital One and Discover have one of the top credit cards for student. But, l would recommend Capital One because they would approve your application faster. http://bestcreditcardratings.com/student...
