  1. well if u don't care what people say then guess nothing can stop u....just builed it strong enough so it won't fall down and break the gas main then BOOM goes your house

  2. Your a moron, so do whatever you want.   I have morons in my neighborhood, and they do whatever they want, and we all call them morons, but it doesnt stop them.   Morons make things move.

  3. as long as they have easy access to it and your not closing it completely in i don't see a problem with it

  4. yes, not only is this idea against building code but most important, against your utilitie's code...... if your information has told you not too, i would listen - your gas utility will have the right to disconnect service if an unsafe condition is found to be prsent..... a gas meter cannot be enclosed whatsover - accidents have happened thus codes are made - worst case, request a gas meter relocate away from the structure - will cost you though......

  5. Stop and think, if you violate their rules it's a simple matter for them to disconnect you. They have that right!

  6. I am noticing a severe lack of informational details in the questions today, lol.....

Ok... to know if something is against code, you need to contact your local authority.... since you didnt bother to give us any hint, that's the best answer you're going to get.  You NEED to contact your local authority.   In many cases, there are access restrictions placed upon the homeowner... that is, you MUST have easy access to the utility meter/hookup.

Next... how far above do you intend to place this 'platform', how big do you want to make it, and for what purpose?  If its going to be seven or eight feet above the meter, it won't likely be a problem.... if you want to put it a few inches above the meter... you're most likely going to be told no.

You may be able, however to have the meter moved to another location, if you really need to put the platform at that location.  In some places, a local contractor can do this, and others, the utility company itself has to move the meter.  This will most likely involve some excavation, and laying new pipe.

    Good Luck

  7. It is very much against code.  The utility requires clearance around all points of entry to the house.  This is for safety, and whatever you build there will be torn down.  There are even codes that specify how close a window can be to the meter.  Hope this helps.

  8. From what little you are showing, it should not be a problem.

It sounds like the meter is on your property. There is still a few like that around here.

But still, get the city code enforcement and the gas co. to make sure.

They may move the meter out to the easement and get it out of your way.
