Hello guys! I just wanted to inquire on what are your suggested computer setup when you have a P35,000 budget.

P = peso

$1 = 50 pesos

considering also the market here in the Philippines but you guys can throw info as long as its relevant! Thanks guys!!

(Sorry to have a post which also ask with the same 35k budget.. I just want to have a clear mindset about my setup.. )

--------------------------------------...

Ok here are my criteria and preference..

1. I mostly use my computer for Photoshop CS3 and the rest of the Creative Suite..

2. Also, I'm interested in converting, compressing and burning movies to a DVD for our family to watch that movie in our home theater.

3.I also prefer multitasking so I'll probably want to have a good Processor..

*******Question********

Does having a Intel Quad with a Windows XP OS would'nt make any difference at all?

I asked that because one of my friend said that to me that if you want to enjoy the "Quad" experience, of course with a quad core processor, you have to use it with Windows Vista..

^---- is this correct?

----------------First Canvass------------------

Intel Q9400 (2.66G) 6mb 1333FSB C2Q

Corsair 2gb 667 x 2

WD 250 GB SATA 8mb x 2

(motherboard: asking for recommendation, since I have no idea)

(Videocard: asking for recommendation, since I have no idea)

LG 17" T713SH ( Don't like LCD's)

(PSU)

(Case with good ventilation)

All those in parenthesis are the parts that I'm clueless with..

Please help me with this..

Any suggestions within 35k budget is appreciated! You can also revise the list if you want to.

Thanks!! ^_________^

  1. with a budget of $700, i would strongly suggest looking at AMD's Phenom (distinctive quad core) CPUs also you would need faster RAM, which will decrease the load times of Photoshop and make the system run smoother in overall...

Let's see... 1) forget about buying a new CRT monitor, they are seriously overpriced right now... you can easy find a cheap second hand CRT in good condition now when everyone's switching to LCD's.

    CPU - AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz ~$180

    MB - ASUS M3A78-CM ~$80

    RAM - OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) (PC2 8500) OCZ2N10662GK X2 = 4GB of RAM ~$90

    VGA - SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 2600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 ~$40

    PSU - COOLER MASTER RP-550-PCAR 550W ~$60

    HDD - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB ~$85

    CDROM - Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black DVR-216DBK ~$30

    CASE - Chieftec SH-01B-B-B ~$70

That's all ~$640 in the US (used Newegg for looking up prices) and i think the rest $60 should cover the local markup... if not, you can always drop half of the ram, or get a smaller HDD.... but that's what i would suggest for such a budget. :)
