My house has a small enclosed front porch with steps up to the front door. You open the screen door go inside and up the steps to the front door. On your left after stepping inside the porch is the support wall and on the other side is the living room. I would like to move the front door down to were the screen door is remodel the porch and turn the support wall into a half wall with pillars and an arch. Is this possible with a support wall. I would really like the porch area to be open to the living room to create a more open feeling in my living room.

  1. You will need advice from a contractor because it is a support wall. But honestly if you are putting up columns that would act as support I think it could be done. That is a great idea you have there and will make better use of your porch too when you don't feel isolated being there.Good luck with your project!

  2. Yes, you can but you will have to be able to support the roof while you rebuild the support wall. Depending on how this is constructed, it may be difficult to accomplish. But then again, they say you can do anything with enough money.
