Building a PaddlePop Stick Boat...??

For my PHYSICS assesment i am required to build a boat (not a sailboat) out of superglue, paddlepop sticks and tin foil. What do i need to think about and what rules would apply if i needed to old 3kg on the boat. PLEASE HELP!! I am not a science person and am struggling. I have to fill in a log book. Please tell me what the rules are etc such as Displacement?

Do a search for Archimedes Principle,  he is the guy who came up with alot of the theories regarding buoyancy and why ships float while a rock sinks.  Displacement is the amount of water displaced or moved out of the way of a floating object. The theories are not all that complicated but take more space than available here, it will help to see the diagrams in the articles which help explain the forces involved .  Good Luck, if you get stuck, put a bar of  Ivory soap in the tub and reread the articles.
