hi i am making a coconut cave for my fish

i have successfully cut the coconut in half

how do i remove the meat without breaking the shell

what plants can i grow on it besides moss and how

  1. You can buy coconuts that are already shelled and de-meated. They are made for hermit crabs, but that should work for you.


  2. You should be able to take a knife and cut the meat into sections and then just pry it out.  The meat should come off with a dark covering, but that's not really part of the shell, it's like an inner lining.  It's not easy to get the meat out, but you can do it.  Then you just scrub out the empty coconut shell.  As well as mosses, you can also root java fern onto a coconut shell cave.  You just tie the java fern down onto the cave and it will root itself to the outer husk after a while.
