I'm thinking of getting a custom enclosure built. I have a Guyana Red Tail Female Boa. From what I know she's 3 or 4 years of age and is a little over 3 ft long.

I was thinking of an enclosure in which was...

4 1/2 ft Long

4 1/2-5 ft High

1 1/2-2ft Wide

4-8 Inch Deep

Do you think that would work for here? If not please give suggestions.

  1. No, that is actually very small. A full grown red tail boa can get up to 9 feet so that wouldn't be big enough. I would try maybe a....

    7 ft- long

    3 ft- high

    3-4 ft- wide

Deep? What do you mean by deep?

Maybe making it a little bit bigger then that wouldn't hurt because red tail boas would like to stretch out and move around. Keeping them in a very small and close up cage is actually quite bad for them cause it would slow down the growth, then that would cause health problems in the future.

    Hope this could help!

  2. The rule here is “the bigger, the better.” Ideally, you should provide an enclosure at least 6’L X 2’W X 2’H, but many keep them in 4'L X 2'W X 2'H with out issues. The idea is to provide your animal with enough room to stretch out, and for a temperature range within its environment- the heated area does need to be large enough for the entire snake to bask. Over all the dimensions are fine and will be suitable for a snake up to 8 feet.
