  1. Wow, that sounds as big at the original project!!! (Here are some ideas, depending on your house, you may/may not have some of the items...)  ;)

Well, you can use a papier mache method to construct the hills and mountains. Maybe chicken wire underneath can serve as the base that you cut and shape and papier mache over it. Or you can use styrofoam that you cut and shape. You can paint both with acrylic paint when done.

You can use modeling clay. There are some kinds that air dry and that may be good to try.

The water seems to be the hardest.... If you use a piece of wood as your base, use some pliable wire to outline the water areas and then build up the sides. If you want it to really look like water, you can melt down the blue colored hard mint candies (don't know the right name but they look like Brach's butterscotch candies but are blue). This leaves you will a hard shell when dry and it's blue. If the wire is tall enough it will hold the candy in. You don't need the water to be very "deep."

You can use clay. You can create "ripples" in it before it's dry to give the effect of water.

You can use blue yarn or even just paper. In the scrapbooking aisle there will be paper that looks like water.

That's about all I can think of. Best of luck!
