  1. Sleepers are a good idea, could always use old scaffold boards, concrete in a wooden post at every corner and at every 1.2 meter on the staight.

Cuprunol or cresote substitute are good preservers.

  2. Try a reclamation yard for old railway sleepers, they are big and thick and excellent for raised beds.

  3. I would use scaffolding planks they are lighter thus easier to use, I always swear by Cuprinol, it doesn't harm the plants.

  4. You could use old railway sleepers they are very heavy but well preserved and should last for years, if you decide on sleepers watch if cutting there might be some stones pressed into the wood and these could damage your saw.

old builders scaffolding boards are easier to handle and about the right width and thickness and will still last for a good number of years if you paint on good wood preserve,a good stake at each corner and depending on length you may require more at the sides to hold the earth in without the wood bellowing out. Happy gardening. Alex
