Building box?

I wanted to build a snowboard box for 50-50s and stuff but I have no hill in my backyard. Is there a way to build one w/o a hill and if so, can you tell me specific instructions as to how?

Thanks

  1. First of all - snowboarding is for pansies who have no skill, and can't just enjoy the mountain.  Im kidding - i only said that because im sick of hearing hate towards skiiers from other snowboarders.

I'm sponsored as a snowboarder (and i ski too)  and let me say this - skiing is a lot harder than snowboarding.  As much as i love snowboarding,  I hate when snowboarders talk like they're sweet and make fun of skiiers.  Most of the time,  they are being ignorant f**s.

ok  -  take a picnic bench, and some PVC pipes and s***w them into the bench so that the top of the bench is covered with a layer of 2.5 inch PVC.  That's it

now for the hill,  take a table (a strong one)  and pack snow on it.  thenget a plywood board and make a ramp - pretty simple.  work on your board slides because 50/50s look g*y.

Hope i helped -  let it snow   (skiing is harder)  :)

  2. if you've got a picknick table. Just nail some plywood to the end of it, and use it as the drop in ramp. Then just build the box like any box. Use P-Tex for the top

  3. Box construction is the same regardless of if it's on a flat slope or a hill.  When you're in a resort terrain park their rail sections are generally on near to flat slopes anyway.

Building the box is easy... steel or wood - whichever is easier for you is fine.  Make sure it's strong.  Steel coping on the edges is nice, but optional - i've made many with Poly tops and no copings and haven't had many problems catching edges unless doing spins-on.

The key for the flat ground set up is figuring out some way to get speed in.  Your options are basically tow-in or drop-in.  With the tow in, have a buddy tow you with a quad/snowmobile/mom's minivan.  With the drop in, you just make a tall stand, take a sheet of plywood and make a 1/4 pipe  or wedge style.  You're going to need it to be decently high (5ft+) and fairly close to the box (maybe 15 feet before) to have enough speed.  If you're really creative you can build a portable drop-in ramp.  Otherwise just stacking stuff up will do fine as long as it's sturdy (picknick tables or pallets or an old vehicle)

Good luck.  Keep those knees bent.

  4. i built a box off this general idea.............

then i built a pathetic drop in ramp that worked amazingly.

just took a sheet of plywood and made a steep angle and waxed it like there was no tomorrow.
