Question:

Building control?

Hi,

I purchased a house a year ago and after a long battle with the builder over several problems I gave up. He left various things unfinished and is conduct was quite poor. The thing is as after our last disagreement I have had no contact with him, but yesterday he left a message on my answer phone to urgently contact him because he needed access to my property. He said that the house was not passed through building control and would I please let him get it signed off. Now firstly he sounded quite flustered and urgent, like he had made some sort of mistake and was in trouble? Secondly I thought why was the house even sold if it was not above board. I think some kind of foul play has been taking place and he has been caught and is looking for my help? Am I right is he looking a favour now of me and where do I stand? Is there some sort of legal formality that he could get in bother for as a developer?

Thank you

  1. You require legal help, don't get involved in anything you may regret later on.

  2. You need to sort this out with your local building control dept, at your LA, to avoid an enforced demolition order.
