i play rugby for my school but this summer i havnt been able to go to the gym rugby is starting back soon and all i have been doing is pushups daily. we got a new weights room installed and were in it yesterday i play in the front row and want to know if this will help me.

start doing sets of pull ups which i can manage fair enough.

bench pressing

and then just a load of biceps triceps chest shoulder and back work outs

will this affect my lower body (stomach and legs) and somehow damage my growth or cause injury to me?

and how many weeks should i be doing to notice results? i get enough protein etc

and lastly should i do this every 2nd day or everyday how do i achieve maximum benifit from it?

  1. you need to perform sport specific exercises, this is where the principle of training specificity comes into play.

  2. well that would work but as an ex front row myself (loose head) you really need to focus on shoulders back and leg development above the rest.

so do shoulders back and legs every other day , chest twice a week and arms once a week p.s. i also have plenty of experience in weight training

i Can write you up a training program if you'd like just e-mail me
