Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu Black Belt, How long would it take to earn it?

I have recently started Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. And i was wondering how long it would take for me to climb to Shodan?

I'm strongly determined to get there, I've been attending classes from a personal student of Hatsumi.

Also, I want to add more structure to my training... Is there anywhere that tells me what i have to do to complete each rank test?

And lastly, At what rank does the average person acquire the skills to defend themselves entirely against a non-martial artist attacker?

I live in a rough neighborhood.

depend on your isntructor. I have a instructors that will give you a black belt right away because if it rank is important he will give it to you right away. As long as you pay him. He doesn't care if that is all u want.
