Question:

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (Ninjutsu)?

One of my martial arts instructors (not the Master) said that Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is not real Ninjutsu. I know that's it's the original Ninjutsu and it's over 2000 years old and is made up of 9 Ninjutsu Ryuha. What can I say to prove that it's real Ninjutsu? He said that real Ninjutsu was Karate Ryu or something I can't exactly remember what.

  1. Dont even try. If you go through life trying to "Prove" things all the time it will destroy the harmony that comes from the training you are doing. That is not your issue he can think and or believe whatever he wants. Focus on your training and let him think whatever.

  2. Hi there

First let me get this one off my chest Bullshindo.com. Good site yes. Bad site also yes. Its problem is that its run by a MMA fan so anything that isnt sports oritentated is considered c**p by their standards. Nothing wrong with that. The rings the ring after all. My problem is that koryu arts are not designed for the ring and they need modification for them to work in a sporting environment. Something that most koryu practitioners cant be bothered with and rightly so. Yes Bullshindo has done some good in naming frauds such as frank duxs etc but it has crossed the line with others. People that want sports fighting go and train in them. If you want koryu jujutsu and weapons then go do them. Understand that the two were designed for different things and at different times.

As for densho etc only the boss knows for sure. ;-)

Theres lots of people that struggle to shake or break away from the 80's image of the ninja. If thats what they think ninjutsu really is then let them.

I find it hard to understand why people dont see what we do as being real? It is afterall very much a koryu art.

Then again its the same people that accept Okinawan Kobudo jutsu as being a real art even when the founder Inoue was trained by a koga ninja?

    Confused yet?

Ninpo is a teeny weeny little part of the bujinkan. The rest of the kata come from other schools two of which are on the Koryu registration anyway?

People dont get it because they know very little about it and whats on the web only adds to the confusion because 90 percent of it is complete and utter garbage.

    Best wishes

    idai

  3. Thing is, you can't prove it, Ninjutsu is a very secretive and conservative art (even moreso than Tongbei....if that's possible) anyways, it's so secretive to the point of where there is no documented history of it. He sounds like an insane skeptic from Bullshido......the people on that site are so harsh....so nitpicky, anyways, just ignore him.
