Bulgaria aims to finish the European League Prelims without loss – Volleyball News
Women’s national volleyball team of Bulgaria, which maintained its winning streak in the first three flights of the 2012 CEV European League, is all set to finish the prelims without any loss.
The fourth leg of Pool B matches is scheduled to start on Thursday, June 28. Bulgaria alongside Turkey, Switzerland, and hosts France will embark on the adventure. Bulgaria is the top team in Pool B of the 2012 CEV Women’s European League. Under the command
of Head Coach Marcello Abbondanza, the Bulgarian musketeers pushed every other team in group behind and went on front.
Bulgaria was lucky to play the first-leg matches at home. City of Varna played host to the opening matches of Pool B. The hosts totally profited from the home advantage and achieved an impeccable 3-0 record. It was really good start in the tournament, which
enabled Bulgaria to grab more success in the coming matches.
After completing the home campaign, Bulgaria headed to Turkish city Izmir for second-leg matches. Ladies around Abbondanza repeated the same brilliant act and did not drop consistency. Despite the fact that the team played away from home, it produced a flawless
performance. Bulgaria completed the second flight of preliminary round with another three victories and moved to 6-0 in the competition.
Fribourg in Switzerland hosted the Pool B matches in third week. According to the set formula of the competition, Bulgaria played a total of three matches in Switzerland. The Bulgarian squad continued with success and captured all the matches. However, France
created a bit of trouble for Bulgaria in the second match of third leg. They gave a tough time to Bulgaria in a five-set affair, but eventually dropped the decision.
Next up, the French town Metz is ready to provide the backdrop for influential last segment of the opening round of 2012 CEV Women’s European League from June 28-30. Bulgaria, which has already secured a spot in the Final Round of the tournament, is shaped
up to stay without any loss in the fourth week of the prelims. Bulgaria will open the last leg by taking on Turkey. In the second match, Swiss ladies will contest their skills with Bulgarian squad.
Third and last match in Pool B of the 2012 CEV European League will feature Bulgaria and hosts France. The French team has held the second spot in Pool B so far. It will be cracking fight between the two top teams of the pool. Nevertheless, Bulgaria has
the potential to beat France. Let’s wait and see if Bulgaria concluded the prelims without any defeat.
