Bulgaria happy with victory but not satisfied with overall results – Volleyball News
The Bulgarian Men’s National Junior Volleyball squad brushed aside their Tunisian opponents in the final round and settled for 13th position at the FIVB Junior Mens World Championships. The crucial match was held on Tuesday, August 9 at Caio Martins
gymnasium in the Brazilian city of Niteroi. Bulgaria managed to end up with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, and 25-17) victory over the opposing team but overall the team seemed unsatisfied with the 13th-place finish. Bulgarian Coach Jaliazkov Nikolay wanted
to see his team with a better ranking. However, they had to be content with the last victory of the tournament.
In yesterday’s match, Ventsislav Trifonov and Nikolay Penchev of Bulgaria did an amazing job for their team and registered 12 points apiece. On the other hand, Tunisian, Mohamed Arbi Ben Abdallah, contributed 11 points to his team’s score.
Bulgaria kept the operations of the game well under hand since the beginning of the match. They picked up an early lead and further stretched the gap of points from 3-1 to the next stop of 7-2. Tunisia scored one more points and in response Bulgaria added
four points. The two teams had a difference of seven points at the second technical timeout of first set. Bulgaria rolled on in the same fashion and secured first set very easily.
Tunisia suffered the set-back due to the weak defence. They couldn’t properly deal with the fast-moving spikes and tricky bump-passes, which frequently landed on their side. Bulgaria, on contrary, was quite focused on the target. They dominated the opposite
side in second set for better part. Tunisia created a bit of spark with tie of scores at 18-all and 20-20 but thanks to Bulgarian Trifonov, who led his team to success in second set via excellent attack.
Third set was close and score also tied once but overall Bulgaria took away the game from Tunisia. Bulgaria emerged as winning team after they captured third set in a row.
The coaches and captains of both teams attended the post-match official conference and recorded their views. Bulgarian Coach Nikolay Jeliazkov had mixed feeling about the match. He was happy with the victory in that particular match but seemed unsatisfied
about the overall performance of his team. Anyhow, he wished them luck for future and hoped that some of his players will get a chance to play for Bulgarian Men’s Senior Team.
Moreover, the Head Coach of Tunisia Mohamed Mounir Gara was not happy either. He said the position didn’t matter for him but his side couldn’t give out the up-to-mark performance. Speaking of Bulgarian Team, he stated: “I know Bulgaria is a good team. In
the future, I hope this team can get better."
