Bulgaria qualifies for the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship
The Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) recently organised the qualification tournament for the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship. A total of 18 men’s junior volleyball teams from all across Europe participated in the Qualifiers, which ended
on Sunday, May 22. Teams were divided into four Pools:

Pool A – Bulgaria, Poland, France and Denmark Pool B – Serbia, Turkey, Latvia, Belarus, Montenegro Pool C – Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Slovakia Pool D – Germany, Italy, Estonia, Greece
The city of Sofia in Bulgaria hosted the Pool A matches, where home team profited the advantage of familiar conditions and lunched its authority on others. Bulgarian Men’s Junior Volleyball Team played four matches and performed exquisitely well. They started
off with a great victory against French team in the opening match and maintained their dominance till the till of qualifiers. The Bulgarian hotshots clean-swept Team France in straight set and laid a solid foundation for further progress. The match between
Bulgaria and France was played on May 18.
In the next match on 20th May, Bulgaria was challenged by Denmark. The home squad once against displayed an incredible show of volleyball and made remarkable progress. Team Denmark totally collapsed in the hands of strong competitors and lost the match at
the expense of 0-3.
Bulgaria did not just stop there. The team kept the same energy and crossed ways with Romania team in third match of the Qualification Tournament. The two sides clashed on Saturday, May 21. Bulgaria was up to give out a spectacular performance. Romanian
team could not stand the power of charged-up Bulgarian team and accepted defeat in plain three sets. The local volleyball fans were greatly pleased with the great act of their team.
In the last match of the qualification tournament, Bulgaria team saw the Polish guys on the other side of the net. It was the most awaited match of the round and around 1000 people had come to watch the match. The Hristo Botev Sports Hall in Sofia was totally
packed-up. The visitors came strong on hosts in the first set and captured the opening set. After a point-to-point battle in second set, Bulgaria managed to hit the equalizer.
However, the resilient rivals bounced back in third set and once against built a lead of 2-1. Bulgaria did not allow Poles to dominate and tied the score in fourth set. In the meantime, home crowd backed-up their team and encouraged them to put an end to
the game in final set.
Bulgaria hit the mark and pulled off success in 15-point golden set in 15 minutes. Bulgaria finished in top slot of Pool A and booked a slot in the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship.
